1930s Wedgwood Octagonal Snowdrops Powder Blue Lustre Bowl - James Hodgkiss design, Pattern Z5175

A rare, beautiful vintage octagonal porcelain bowl by Wedgwood, decorated in a striking stippled powder-blue ground with a continuous hand-finished frieze of white and soft blue snowdrops. The interior rim features a matching delicate snowdrop garland below a classical gilt geometric border. The exterior rim is accented with a gilded laurel leaf band. A lovely piece of classic English pottery, perfect as a small fruit bowl, table centrepiece, or collector's display piece. Produced during the celebrated Daisy Makeig-Jones era at Wedgwood, this elegant ordinary lustre line showcases the refined naturalistic work of her studio mentor and chief designer, James Hodgkiss.

Condition: some spots in glaze interior; a single small factory-firing indentation/hole near the outer base rim (common in mid-century production, visible upon close inspection (please see photos)
