Antique Japanese Antimony Repousse Jewellery Box- Chrysanthemums and Birds-New Lining

An authentic antique Japanese trinket or jewellery box featuring stunning high-relief repoussé work. The heavy, cast antimony body is adorned with an elaborate design of blooming imperial chrysanthemums across the lid and dynamic flying birds soaring over ocean waves along the sides.                                                                                              The interior has been relined with brand-new, plush dark red velvet, providing a pristine, clean protective space for keepsakes.  While there are historical hairline age-cracks at the rear lid corners near the hinges, the lid remains completely stable, opens easily, and closes flush.                                                                                                                                        A wonderful blend of early 20th-century Asian export metalwork and modern functional readiness.
