Antique Victorian Cut Crystal & Silver-Plated Biscuit Barrel

This large, antique cut-crystal biscuit barrel with silver-plated mounts features deep geometric 'hobnail' and fan-cut patterns on a heavy lead-crystal body. It includes a metal collar, a flush-seating lid with a tiered finial, and a decorative swing handle. It as a beautiful, subtle amethyst tint, a characteristic of genuine antique glass/crystal containing manganese that has naturally 'sun-purpled' over the last century.
Maker: for silver plated parts-likely English silversmith such as Mappin & Webb, Walker & Hall, or James Dixon & Sons. These makers often paired their metalwork with glass from renowned factories in the Stourbridge region.
Age: circa 1890–1915 (late Victorian - Edwardian era).
Measurements: height 17cm/6.7" excluding handle, 24.5cm/9.6" with handle, girth 47cm/18.5", weight 1,14kg
Condition: patina on silver plated glass, overall in very good condition.
