Large Vintage Chinese Hand-Carved Soapstone Goldfish Sculpture -1kg

A heavy and beautifully detailed vintage Chinese soapstone carving of a telescope-eye goldfish. Featuring a striking natural palette of smoky grey, charcoal, and amber, this sculpture stands on double tiered matching base. Fully carved on both sides, allowing for 360-degree display.

At 16cm long and over 1kg, it’s a substantial and tactile piece of traditional oriental art.  In Chinese culture, the goldfish is a powerful symbol of prosperity, abundance and wealth.

Age: vintage from 1950s – 1970s

Dimensions: length 16cm/6.3”, height 13.5cm/5.3”,width 6.5cm/2.6”, weight 1030gr

Condition: good vintage condition with substantial weight, some minor flea bite chips to the edges of the base, consistent with the soft nature of soapstone and its age. Please see photos.
