A highly collectible piece of vintage British pottery commissioned by Ringtons Ltd. Tea Merchants of Newcastle upon Tyne, England. This square, pagoda-shaped tea caddy or biscuit jar features the classic blue and white "Willow Pattern," sometimes specifically referred to by Ringtons as the "Two Temples" pattern. It is beautifully decorated with a traditional Chinoiserie landscape scene and finished with a lid designed to resemble a pagoda roof. This item is a staple for collectors of blue and white ceramics and British tea history.
Manufacturer: The item itself was produced by a different pottery manufacturer on behalf of Ringtons. Original vintage pieces (pre-1962) were made by C.T. Maling of Newcastle. Later reproductions (post-1980s, such as the 1991 and 1993 reissues) were typically manufactured by Wade Ceramics.
Age: Original Maling caddies with this style date to the late 1920s to early 1930s.
