Vintage creative Sosaku Kokeshi Doll

This is a traditional Japanese Kokeshi doll in the They are simple, limbless wooden dolls, hand-carved and painted in Japan, originating from the Tohoku region. Originally created as children toys from 19th century, Kokeshi are considered a symbol of good luck and fortune and are often given as gifts of friendship or love as well as a decorative pieces for home.
The body is cylindrical and features a detailed, hand-painted landscape scene including figures and pines, which represent a scenic location in Japan. It has a natural wood finish with painted features, including black hair with red details and a smiling face with minimal lines.
Age: made in 1970's
Measurements: 24cm/ 9.4" tall, head girth 23cm/9", base diameter 5cm/2", weight 366gr Wear and patina consistent with age.
