Vintage Japanese Sosaku Usaburo Kokeshi Doll - "Taishun" (Dreaming of Spring) by Yoshiaki

A charming vintage Sosaku kokeshi doll featuring a distinctive bob hairstyle with a wooden bow. Cylindrical body is decorated with a "corrugated" texture and hand-painted with delicate plum blossoms, symbolizing the coming of spring. She has a serene, sleeping expression and is a classic piece of Japanese folk art.

Maker:  Yoshiaki (or Yamada Genji in some variations)

Age: vintage from 1970s

Dimensions: head girth 20.5cm/8”, base diameter 4cm/1.6”, 15.5cm /6.1” tall, weight 175gr

Condition: on top of bow small chip, and on the base rim, otherwise very good vintage condition
