An exceptional mirror-image pair of vintage Chinese cloisonné miniature baluster vases. Each vase features a detailed 5-clawed Imperial dragon in deep blue, pink, and teal hues, chasing the sacred Flaming Pearl of wisdom. The vibrant motif is set against a dense pattern of hand-applied brass wire cloud scrolls on a clean white ground.
Includes two original matching dark-turned wooden display stands. A striking example of mid-to-late 20th-century craftsmanship. Highly collectible and striking accent for any Chinoiserie display or Asian art collection. Maker: Unmarked Chinese regional artisan workshop (likely Beijing)
Estimated age: circa 1950s–1970s
Dimensions: height 13cm/5.1”, height with stands 14.3cm/5.6”, top rim diameter 4.5cm/1.8”, base diameter 4.7cm/1.8”, weight with stands 320 gr
Condition: good, all colours bright and vibrant, around the exterior neck curvatures of both vases light hairline craze lines. Minor, authentic discolouration/bleeding to the white ground surrounding the blue contours of the flaming pearl graphics. Interior- aged patina and oxidation. Base enamel of one vase has a small indent.
